Next2Friends is a Communications Platform that opens up a whole new world of interaction between people, their friends and family and others. One part intelligent Social Networking, one part breakthrough Mobile Technology, Next2Friends can be used for many things like keeping in touch with friends, sharing moments with others in real time, and meeting new people with similar interests. So while Next2Friends is a Social Networking website, it also interacts with most current Mobile Technology to create a level of communication and interaction never seen before!
You can do all the things that you’d expect from a Social Networking site like setting up a profile, uploading pictures and searching for and connecting with friends. But at the heart of Next2Friends are 6 new revolutionary services that run on and interact with your Mobile Device. They are:
Not right now. It’s absolutely free!
That remains to be seen. Hey, if you get enough of your friends to sign up we may never have to charge a dime!
With Next2friends Live Streaming Video, you can broadcast live events from any capable mobile device or webcam to your family and friends wherever they are in the world! They can watch any event in real-time with you, as it happens!
And if multiple people are at the same event and broadcast on the same channel, any number of end users will be able to choose between the different camera angles being streamed to edit, download or even burn a DVD of the event. Next2Friends Live Video Streaming means no one ever has to miss that first home run again, or that all of us can be eye-witnesses to life changing events anytime, from anywhere!
Maybe. For a list of compatible mobile devices check the Download page.
In general, the Live Streaming Video feature works on all devices using the Symbian 3rd Edition operating system (or any webcam hooked up to a computer with an internet connection).
Next2Friends Live Streaming Video support for mobile devices running Windows Mobile 6 will begin early March, 2008. Live Streaming Video will be possible with Apple’s iPhone sometime after the release of their Software Developer’s Kit. This is rumored to be sometime in February, 2008, so you can look for compatibility on the iPhone sometime in April, 2008.
Yes! From any webcam hooked up to a computer with an internet connection!
We are very close to offering this, but not quite there.
Not quite yet. Development for Video and Voice Over IP is still actively being pursued by Next2Friends. It will be quite a technological leap, but if anyone is laying the groundwork for this technology it is Next2Friends!
Next2Friends Tag is designed to automate the otherwise tedious task of online person-to-person network building by bridging your online profile and the physical “real world”. Here’s how it works:
You set up a profile detailing all your likes, your dislikes, your quirks and everything that makes you who you are. Then, if you load Next2Friends onto your mobile device and turn on Proximity Services, Next2Friends will look for other users you come into close proximity with that share your likes, dislikes, and yes, even your quirks. Finally, when you sign into your account you’ll receive notification of all the people you passed throughout the day who you have something in common with. And the rest is up to you!
The service uses both Bluetooth and P2P WIFI enabled mobile devices to interact with your online profile and record relative matches to other users you come into close proximity with (within 10 metres).
Next2Friends Tag can run on J2ME (Java) MIDP2 enabled mobile device. Just download the Next2Friends software onto your mobile device and turn on Next2Friends Tag.
No. You choose when you want to be “seen”, or rather, when you will be out actively collecting profile matches. If you’d like nothing to do with finding matches to your profile then you can simply disable Next2Friends Tag.
Simply click on the “Blocked” tab of your “Friends” page and block that user.
Ask-A-Friend is a dynamic new way to get instant feedback from all your friends, or if you choose, the entire Next2Friends community. It works like this: You snap photos to create an instant opinion poll to send to whomever you choose for a vote. Your friends will receive notification via their mobile device or their Next2Friends profile that an opinion poll has been created. They choose their favorites among the pictures and the results are then sent directly back to you. Ask-A-Friend gives you real time results when you need them the most; in the real world!
Ask-A-Friend will run on J2ME (Java) MIDP2 enabled mobile device with a camera and a way to connect to the internet.
Of course, all polls are accessible from your Next2Friends profile.
Not yet. We’re working on it though!

Snap Up, or SUP, stands for Snap and Upload. It is a simple way to snap and upload photos to your Next2Friends profile. Want to create a live photo gallery from an event for your friends to view? Or maybe you want to save space on your mobile device’s hard drive. Either way, Next2Friends allows you to just snap photos and upload them to your profile for later viewing and editing.
